ROAD TRANSPORT
+ ELLESMERE COMPANY'S APPLICATION
LAn application by the Ellesmere | Transport Company, Ltd. (Mr Rf A Young) for four additional vehicle authorities under the company's goods seryice_licence, was heard by Mr T. H. Langford, No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, yesterday. The company was recently granted a renewal of its 14 vehicle authorities,' the number subsequently being reduced to 10 by the Appeal Authority (Sir Francis FraEer). The application yesterday was heard concurrently with applications (evidence for which was heard previously) for two vehicle authorities by G. L Barr and J. K. Gorman (Mr A. A. G Reed), and for two authorities by H L. Montgomery (Mr E. A. Cleland). Mr Cleland also represented the Ellesmere Agricultural and Pastoral Association and Farmers* Union, who supported the latter two applications. , Objections to the company's application were lodged by the Rehabilitation Department (Mr C. G. Rands), and by the Railways Department (Mr A. Benzie.),..in .that the department would oppose additional stock route authorities -beyond those in the company's original licence. Decision was reserved.
