Departure of War Brides.—A total of 101 war brides and 60 young children are aboard the American ship ' Permanente, which is due to sail from Auckland this morning for San Francisco, via the island ports. The brides come from all parts of New Zealand (P.A.) Amenities for Occupation.—Although the final decision whether New Zealand forces will share in the occupation of Japan has not yet been made, preparations for amenities for the force are going ahead. These include a service newspaper like those published m the Middle East. Pacific and United Kingdom.—(F.O.P.R.) Communication With Nauru.—Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia), Ltd announces that the wireless telegram’ service between Australia and Nauru suspended dunpg the war, is again available for public communications. Messages will be accepted at the beam wireless office or at any telegraph Earthquake’s Epicentre.—Dominion Observatory seismologists have analysed the records, provisionally, of the Indian earthquake shock recorded at 9.56 a.m. on November 28, New Zealand time, and, in conjunction with overseas information, place the epicentre in Pamir, near the Indian Northwest Frontier.—(P.A.)
