John Citizen.—Your letter was referred to Superintendent H. Scott, of the Police Department, who said that 20 complaints of prostitution had been received since he had taken over his duties in Christchurch. The police force Kept an eye on these matters in the course of its duty, but could only act on evidence. Thus far no such evidence had been forthcoming.
