SUCCESSFUL SEASON REPORTED ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The standard of play and the number of teams had been satisfactory, and the last season had been highly successful, said Mr R. H. North, president of the Canterbury Cricket Association, at the annual meeting of the association last evening. With the end of the war the game should benefit, he continued, as players would be returning, and clubs would get back to their normal strengths Last season more cricket had been played than in any other season since the outbreak of war. Two-day matches will be played in the first and second grades this season, it was decided, and one-day matches in lower grades. On the motion of Mr I. B. Cromb, It was decided that all shields and trophies would again be offered for competition. The management committee will fix the date for the opening of the season. • Whether the Air Force will be represented on the management committee will be decided by the committee. Reporting on a training film, Mr Cromb said it would be the best of its kind in the world. It showed the best players, filmed bith in slow motion and at ordinary speed. When any outstanding overseas player visited New Zealand he would be filmed. Copies of the film would be distributed to all associations and to schools. A second film would be designed for teachers of the game. Mr Cromb also said that if classes for coaches were started In Christchurch the game would benefit. Such classes had been held in Auckland and had proved successful.

The financial statement showed that the income of the association exceeded the expenditure by £3O 18s. Officers were elected as follows; —president, Mr North; vice-presidents. Messrs E. R. Caygill and W. J. V. Hamilton; honorary secretary, Mr J. C. Saunders; honorary assistant secretary, Mr I. A. Baxter; honorary treasurer, Mr T. Tucker; management committee, Messrs Cromb, R. C. Saunders, D. T. Ager, D. A. Colville, D. Stanley, G. A. Bull, C. G. Hamilton. L. A. Butterfield, C, G. Crawford, and E. K. Phillips; delegates to the New Zealand Cricket Council, Messrs Caygill and Crawford; honorary auditors, Messrs J. H. Pickles and P. J. Byrne. SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION A return to pre-war conditions for its grade competitions has been decided upon by the Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association for the coming season. During the war one-day matches have been played in the junior, as well as In the lower grades. This year two-day matches will be played by both senior and Junior teams, and one-day games will be played in the lower grades.
