INTERNAL MARKETING DIVISION
Sir,—The annual report and accounts of the Internal Marketing Division to March 31, 1944, were issued this week. During 1943, with sales of apples; pears, and vegetables of more than £928,000. the director coyly admits to making bad debts amounting to £l. but hopefully shows this item in his balance-sheet as “Losses in Suspense. £l.” Incidentally, it appears somewhat lonely beside the amount of £665,809, “accumulated losses to December 31, 1943.’’ Regarding eggs, the director boldly forecasts (page 4) that “it is expected that the importation of Australian egg-pulp will be less during 1944 than was the case .n 1943, and again concerning vegetables (page 13) that “commercial dehydrating in Nelson is expected to begin early in June,. 1944.” The Minister in Charge apparently does not accept responsibility for the report so all the credit must go to the director (Mr K. P. Fraser) and the accountants (Messrs Jupp and Lawson). Yours. etc “ R. FINCH. Oamaru, August 8, 1945.
