Young, and the Sir William Hartley scholarship to Miss J. P. Morrison. Mr lan Matheson, Wellington, fur business reasons, resigned from the presidency at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation. Mr W. J. Truscott, Auckland, was elected acting-president until the next annual conference, Mr Matheson will continue as a member of the council as immediate past president—iP.A.) Sergeant A. J. Austin, who has been stationed at the Christchurch Central Police Station, will leave on Saturday for Hokitika, where he will take up the position of offlccr-in-charge. Mr G. Bridgemrn, art director of the Government Film Studios, Miramar, and Mr D. Carr arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yesterday. They will supervise the erection of the Government Court at the Canterbury Industries Fair.
