AMENDMENTS TO AWARDS
Several Increases in rates of pay are provided in amendments to awards by the Arbitration Court. Improvers covered by the North Canterbury Female Hairdressers’ Assistants' Award received increases of 11s a week, and apprentices from 5s to Bs. Increases of 5S to 8s weeklyare also awarded to learners. Casuals (other than casual salon attendants) receive an increase of 3Jd an hour, and salon attendants 5s a week. Casual salon attendants receive an Increase of 3d an hour. . . Amendments to the Canterbury OilStore Employees’ Award provide for an increase of 10s weekly for storemen, storemen (leading hands), and oil blenders, 3Jd an hour for casuals, youths as to 8s 6d, and 12s for watchmen employed tor 48 hours a week. Meal money of 2s is allowed. Wool-sorters, wool-pressers, and all other workers received an Increase of 3id an hour In an amendment to the Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago and Southland Woolscouring Works Employees’ Award. Youths, up to the age of 19 years, receive increases of 5s to 7s 6d weekly, 19 to 20 years, 2Jd an hour and 20 to 21 years, 3d an hour. All increases are made retrospective to April 1. 1945, and are subject to the two cost-of-living bonuses.
