“A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM”
PRESENTATION IN RADIANT HALL The Canterbury University College Drama Society, whose previous performances of “Hamlet” aid “Othello*.. were well received in Christchurch, has again selected a Shakespearean play for its toajor production tills year. In an attempt to cater for all tastes the society is presenting “A Midsummer Night’s Dream" for a season of six -erformances at the Radiant Hall, com* mencing next Thursday. While keeping within the bounds of Shakespearean tradition, the producer. Miss Ngaio Marsh, has planned a refreshingly original treatment, and the stage settings and costumes are on, a scale not usually achieved by amateur companies. The cast is substanti?lly; the same as that of the company which toured the Dominion during the last Christmas .and which was; everywhere -nceefdad an enthusiastic ‘ reception. Douglas Lilburn has composed a der Ughtful musical score specially for this production. Peggy Holmes and Dundas Walker have arranged the> dances, including a rolKckins and novel yokels’ dance.
