CONVERSION OF TWENTYONE MOTORCARS
♦ STUDENT TEACHER SENTENCED (P.A.) WELLINGTON. July 20. Between June 13 and July 13 John Keith Henley, student teacher, aged 19, converted 21 motor-cars in Wellington, and also stole from five of them a sleeping bag, a chain tape-measure, a car radio, an overcoat, and a car battery, said Detective-Sergeant E. H. Compton in the Magistrate’s Court today. Henley pleaded guilty to a total of 26 charges preferred against him, and was sentenced by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to 12 months’ detention in a Borstal institution. The total value of the cars converted was nearly £6OOO.
