MISSING IN ACTIO
CHRISTCHURCH MAN IN U.S. AIR FORCE Sergeant Arthur J. (Jim) Adams, United. States . Army Air Corps, who was reported in May to ' have been awarded the United States Air Medal for courage and devotion to duty during combat flights in the Pacific, has now been reported missing in action since June 20, 1945. His parents are Mr and Mrs A. J. Adams, 3 Avalon street. Christchurch. An official communication to his parents states that on June 20, Sergeant Adams was a motion picture cameraman on an aeroplane scheduled for a mission over Borneo. While en route over Mandai. Celebes, his aeroplane was seen to turn round and head back in the opposite direction and in a short time it disappeared. Sergeant Adams was born in the United States and came to Christchurch with his parents at the age of nine years. He received his secondary education at the Christchurch Boys’ High School. Before enlisting with the American Air Force he served two and a half years with the R.N.Z.A.F.
