SUPPLIES FROM BRITAIN
* RAPID RESTORATION NOT EXPECTED
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 22. Importers should not expect very rapid restoration of full supplies from Great Britain though the reorganisation of industry was well under way, Mr G. W. Clinkard. London representative of the New Zealand Ministry of Supply, told members of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association. Mr F. R. Picot, Commissioner of Supply." who supplemented Mr Clinkard’s remarks, said the supply position was definitely Improving and that by the end of the year they could look forward to an increasing flow of goods that had been needed. Against that, of course, they had to remember that there was a vast international shortage, and demands from such organisation? as GNREA and from the Netherlands East Indies and the Colonial QffICCS would be tremendous. Mr Picot paid a tribute to Britain’s treatment of New Zealand. “In the supply of some things, he said, “we have nad a wonderful spin, and anyone who questions Britain’s intentions to fulfil her obligations does not know what he is talking about. As far a£ we are concerned she has done all that' has been possible.”
