COLONIAL SUGAR COMPANY
denial of Allegations (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) . SYDNEY, June 1. The Federal Minister of Labour (Mr E. J. Holloway) had made a number of misstatements in his criticism of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, said the company’s general manager (Mr Rothe). Inferences teat the company gave its employees no consideration were absolutely untrue. At no time had the company appealed against the judgment of the Arbitration Court in respect of any award made for sugar workers. A section of employees at the Melbourne refinery had taken part in eight strikes or stoppages in the last six months.
