CP.A.) Wellington. June i. “The lifting of some War-tithe restrictions can now be carried a. stage further,” said the Minister of Supply (the HOh. D. O. Sullivan) in . a statement this evening, announcing the gazetting of further revocations and relaxations affecting 11 controls administered by the Factory cohtrdller. Some of these controls, of necessity during the War period, had restricted production, while others had been used to divert imparted materials to the didst essential uses. , - The following control notices are affected:—Machine -Tools and Engineering Equipment, Non-ferrous Metals, iron and Steel; Drawing and Mathematical Instruments, Household FiiniD tUre Manufacture, Cardboard BOX and Carton, wrapping, waste Piper, paper (Supply ahdjmportatiort), Paper (Getlr end), and Paper (Manufacture and s&lc) „ i Although, said the Minister, the legal notice varies or revokes the re-strictions-supplies were not back to pre-war levels, and restraint must therefore be exercised by those com cerhed, in takihg. advantage of this additional freedom. Referring to paper, Mr Sullivan said that although thC position was much easier, it was still hecesSary to maintain some restrictions, SUch aS bn the publication of periodicals and the printing of directories, maps, posters, and other simllar items.
