FIREMEN OVERCOME BY SMOKE
OUTBREAK IN SCHOOL LAUNDRY (P.A.) AUCKLAND. April 19. Two firemen were overcome by smoke and, a member of the school staff was rescued only just in time when fire broke put in *he twostoreyed building known as the -laundry block at King’s School in Remyera road shortly after 5 p.m. The fire was confined to the drying room, a small lumber room immediately above it, and a portion of the roof. Some of the boys’ clothes were destroyed. At the time of the outbreak the boys were in the main building, and the laundry block was unoccupied. Daylight Saving.—A Gazette notice extends the period of daylight saving for the usual half hour throughout the winter months.—(P.A>)
