PRODUCTION OF COAL FROM REEFTON FIELD

, Coal mines on the Reefton field in the week ended April 7 produced for railage from the Reefton railway station 2102 tons of coal. As the working period was broken by both Easter Monday and a “pay Saturday ” the output represented only four days’ work. '

An ascent of Mount Hutt was made during the week-end by five members of the Erewhon Mountaineering Club. From the summit, the party obtained a splendid view of the main range as far as Mount Cook. , _
