SPORTS MEETING AT TIMARU RESULTS OF EVENTS From Our Own Reporter TIMARU, April 1. In spite of dull weather, there was a fairly large attendance at a combined sports meeting organised by the South Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club and the Timaru Cycling Club at Timaru on Saturday. Comoetitors were present from Christchurch and Greymouth, and a team from the Air' Force contributed considerably to the success of the meeting. H. J. Smither made an attempt on the unpaced quarter-mile record and put up the good time of 33 l-ssec. The athletic events provided some spirited contests with Air Force competitors making a splendid showing. Miss N. Gourley (Crichton Cobbers.
