Treasure, the dam of Single Star, Hardy Oak, and Jack’s Treasure. Fulled Too Hard ■ After being slow away In the Papanul Handicap the favourite. Frances Easton, showed a lot of speed to gather the field, and she was prominent when the straight was reached; but her early effort left her without reserve, and in a close finish she finished in seventh position. Frances Easton pulls hard in her races -and that auuears to be her biggest handicap. If only she could be induced to race generously, she has the speed to make the grade to the best company. Never Dangerous , ~ T u Cabin Boy, the favourite for the J. H. Williams Handicap, started smartly, but he was in the middle of the field with half a mile covered, and from then on he gradually lost his position until he was giving most of the field a start with five furlongs to go. P. P. Gallagher eventually got him clear, but Cabin Boy did not appear to be going kindly, and he made a late dash on the extreme outside of the field to finish in fifth place. «. M to th. betting on the Wilkin Handicap, was within striking distance of the leaders with a mile and a half covered, but he lost his chance when Scottish Emperor tangled and came back on him. In the absence of P. P. Gallagher, Jeeves was driven by J. McLennan, who is attached to R. J. Humphrey's stable at Templeton. By the .time McLennan had Jeeves P™pe r >y balanced he was giving the field an impos sible start, and he was not knocked about in the run home. S °Steel T a grey gelding by Wrack from Oriental Queen, put iup a solid performance to earn the £SO third prize in the Intermediate Handicap, and he trotted the mile and five furlongs in 3mm ® 4-ssec, which was Just three-fifths of a second slower than Sea Max was required to go in the Autumn Handicap for the, first prize of £490. Oriental Queen, the dam of Steel King, was bred by Mr T. Aspell and was by Logan Pointer from Eastern Lady, which was by Prince Imperial from a thoroughbred mare by Benzoin. Justified Support ,_ , . Driven by F. G. Holmes, Loyal Friend was one of the favourites for the Cham'bion Pacing Free-for-All, and he justified the confident support by his third placing in 2mln 38 l-ssec. Loyal Friend was back behind Ronald Logan, Dusky Sound, Gold Bar, Double Peter, Clockwork, Happy Man, Bronze Eagle, and Pacing Power when the field settled down, but he i threaded his way through to challenge 1 in the straight, but failed to caffeh Double I Peter and Gold Bar by just-over three '■ lengths.
