(Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 28. “Rumanian 5 soldiers and gendarmes continued to fire against National Democratic Front , demonstrators in Bucharest, Craiova, Brasov, and Caracal,” says the Soviet- Tags News Agency. “Gendarmes at. Caracal prolonged their fire against the demonstrators until representatives of the Inter-Allied Armistice Control Commission demanded that the shooting should, end.” "There was. fighting all yesterday (Saturday) in Bucharest between the National Democratic Front, which is seeking to oust the Radescu Government, and Rumanian military units guarding the Ministry of the Interior and the Prefecture," reported the Tass News Agency earlier. “Both sides lost a number killed and wounded. Fighting is also reported from - other Rumanian cities.” The diplomatic correspondent of-the Londofi “Qbserver" says: “The Ruman-» ian riots are the climax to a grave internal crisis between Left and Right elements. The Leftists have asked for the dismissal of the Prime Minister (Mr Radescu), who has also been sharply criticised by the Russian press, “Mr Radescu was in conference over the week-end with party leaders. "The chief accusations of the Communists are Mr Radescu’s allegedly friendly attitude towards- pro-Nazis of the former Iron Guard, and his reluctance to purge the Administration.' Similar charges have been made against -the leaders of the National Peasant Party (Dr. Maniu) and the Liberal Party (Mr Bratianu). AGREEMENT REACHED ON ALL POINTS

Feb. 26, It is officially announced in Rome that the Supreme Allied Commander in the Mediterranean, Field-Marshal Sir Harold Alexander, has been having discussions with the Jugoslav, leader, Marshal Broz. The talks were purely military in character, and it is understood that agreement was reached on all points.

PROBLEMS

The Jugoslav radio says that a solution of the Regency problems which, it is believed, safeguards the dignity of the Monarchy sufficiently to make it acceptable to King 1 Peter, has been sent to London. However, King Peter s acceptance is not necessary to carry out the plans for the new unified Government.-

POLISH LABOUR PARTY

NO WITHDRAWAL FROM GOVERNMENT

LONDON, Feb. 24,

The Polish Ministry of Information has issued a statement regarding the Polish Christian Labour Party’s declaration that it has withdrawn its two representatives from Mr Arciszewski’s Government. “The Christian Labour Party members, Dr. Kusnierz, Minister of Justice, and Mr Sopocki, Minister of Reconstruction, are remaining in their posts,” says the statement. “They, in conjunction with General Haller, head of the Christian Labour Party, question the legality of announcements made by a group of members of this party on Its behalf.”

FRENCH MISSION TO LONDON TALKS WITH BRITISH GOVERNMENT LONDON, Feb. 25. The French Foreign Minister (M. Georges Bidault) arrived at an airport in southern England on Sunday. He was met by the Foreign Secretary (Mr R. A. Eden) and the French Ambassador (M. Massigli). M, Bidault will meet Mr Churchill and other members of the Government. The main subjects for discussion will be the meeting of' the Big Three in the Crimea, the question of the occupation and control of Germany after the war, the future of the Rhineland, and the, part that France will play at the San Francisco conference.

CANADIAN CROWD ATTACKS POLICE

MANY INJURED; 25 ARRESTS MADE

OTTAWA, Feb. 25. At least 100 were injured in the predominantly French-Canadian town of Drummondville when a of more than 2000 attacked mounted police and military police who were rounding up persons evading compulsory service. The crowd overturned four police cars and smashed 10 Provost Corps trucks. The police made 25 arrests. Lend-lease for Turkey.—The Ankara correspondent of the British United Press reports that the United States Ambassador and the Turkish Foreign Minister have signed a lend-lease agreement.—London, February 25.
