RAILWAYS TRIBUNAL DECISION
PROTEST BY ADDINGTON R.T.A.
The Addington branch of the Railway Tradesmen’s Association has passed the following resolution:— “The Addington branch of the Railway Tradesmen’s Association, while accepting the decision of the Railways Tribunal, strenuously protests against the wages increase granted to tradesmen, In comparison with other secof the sqrvice, the increase granted displays a lamentable disregard of the evidence submitted at the sittings of the tribunal by our organisation, and also of the findings of the Apprenticeship Commission. Further, we consider that the decision arrived at fails to offer any solution to the problem of the acute shortage of skilled tradesmen which at present exists and which • will definitely increase during the post-war years ” A special meeting ot the Railway Tradesmen’s Association was held at Greymouth yesterday to discuss the wages increases granted, A similar motion to that passed in Auckland earlier last week was carried, and il was decided to await the full findings of the Railways Industrial Tribunal before any decisive action was taken.
