FOUNDER’S DAY
PARADE OF BOY SCOUTS The Boy Scouts’ Association held its Founder’s Day celebrations yesterday, when more than 1200 cubs, brownies, scouts, and guides paraded in Cranmer square and. headed by the rands of the Crichton Cobbers and the Scottish Society, marched in sections to divine service at the Cathedral. Trinity Congregational Church, or the Salvation Army citadel. The service at the Cathedral was taken by Archdeacon A. C. Purchas, and the address was given by Canpn S. Parr. Miss Bromley Cocks, commissioner for girl guides, and _ Sir Joseph Ward, county commissioner for scouts, led the reaffirmation of the Promise. The service at the Trinity Congregational Church was led by the Rev. F W. Winton. and the Rev W M Garner addressed the parade. Those who attended the Citadel were addressed by the territorial commissioner of the Salvation Army. Commissioner John Smith. At 8 a.m. yesterday morning 90 cubs, scouts, and guides attended Mass at the Cathedral. Barbadoes street An athletic meeting was held on Saturday, when the district shield was won by Eastern. The successful groups were as follows: ■ Leading Group: Spreydon 1. Phillipstown 2. Marist and Addington eaual 3. Leading Scout Troop; Phillipstown and Addington equal 1, Woolston 3. Leading Cub Pack; Spreydon 1, Marist 2, Phillipstown 3.
