AUSTRALIAN MEAT EXPORTS
a NEW ZEALAND FIELD ENTERED (Rec. 6 p.m.) SYDNEY. Feb. 24. “It is a sad' state of affairs that it should take a world war, to bring about the diversion of Australian meat into channels hitherto viewed as exclusively New Zealand’s.” That comment is made by Mr R. H. Heywood, executive officer in London of the Australian Meat Board in a report to the chairman of the board (Mr A. C. Fiskens). “Nevertheless, it is gratifying to find almost universal recognition of the high standard of Australian exports by those who, in the past, were in the habit of decrying them so loudly. I have heard it said by a high official of the Ministry of Food that the. days of wide margins between Australia and New Zealand are gone.” Mr Heywood said he thought it was the result of the great improvement in recent Australian shipments.
