. LANGLEY CUP ASHBURTON BEATS CHRISTCHURCH Ashburton beat Christchurch by 22 points in the annual bowls competition for the Langley Cup, played at Rakala on Saturday. The, following are the scores, Ashburton skips being named first;— G. Tatterson 24, C. Madsen 19; W. R. Lane 15, J. R. Smith 33; H. E. Thomson 30, R. H. Taylor 27; J. Cockroft 26, W. R. Featherston 13; 3. Templeton 22, A. F. Hollinson 21; A. Corbett 13. A. Besley 16; A. Candy 36, C. Spearman 15. Aggregate.—Ashburton 166, Christchurch 144. MATCHES IN CHRISTCHURCH The Christchurch Bowling Club , won the annual match against St. Albans on Saturday. Games were played on both greens. 16 fours from each club taking part. Christchurch scored 412 points and St. Albans 341. Elmwood is the first city club to complete its pairs championship. The winners were D. S. Dott and W. R. Featherston.
