OVERSEAS RELIEF ACTIVITIES
OBJECTS OF CORSO (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 19. Formed last August, and now comprising about 20 of the principal voluntary agencies, including the main churches, as well as a representative of the National Patriotic Fund Board and the British Medical Association, the New Zealand Council df Organisetions for Relief Service Overseas (CORSO), has been advised by the Prime Minister (tne ,Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) that the Government willingly acc.pts the co-operation of the council in the worll of overseas relief, and will participate in its activities to the exten* contemplated in its constitution. The objects of CORSO are to assist devastated peoples and countries in need of relief and rehabilitation, and to co-operate with the New Zealand Government in the fulfilment of its obligations under UNRRA. Approval for representation by the Joint Council of the Order of St. Joh- and the New Zealand Red Cross Society, in addition to the separate representation of the constituent organisations, has been accepted by CORSO. At a recent meeting of the council, the nomination by the Government, in terms of the constitution, of Mr J. H. Boyes, Public Service Commissioner, for the position of chairman of both the council and the executive, was confirmed.
