CHARGE AGAINST JOHN HOGAN

ADJOURNMENT GRANTED CP.A.) WELLINGTON, December 20. .When John Hogan was charged today at Petone with continuing to fail to obey a direction to the Wellington woollen mills, an adjournment was Bought on the ground that the summons was served only on December 15, and the notice was too short. Counsel said also that the notice was unexpected, especially at this season of the year, and his client was in Auckland, having gone there on Saturday chiefly to gather evidence to refute the charge. The summons had been left at Hogan’s home in his absence. . . After legal argument, the Magistrate said tiie notice must be reasonable, and seven days was usually considered so. The case was adiourned to January 24. '
