Those who have eyes to see know-all too well that what Lieutenant-Colonel Walker says of the dispantybetween urban and rural conditions is stttoo true. The slogan for better conditions of life should be in the interests of the source of our wealth and not the destruction of it, Had we a few more such as Y. T. Shand to preach the gospel of balance, based on fact and not fantasy or political expediency, there would be much more hope for a prosperous New Zealand in the future. 'There does not appear to be one outstanding voice in our political choir from whom we might expect remedial song, and I say it with sadness^ours, etC " T.E.L. December 19, 1944.
