VICEREGAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON. December 19. This morning the Governor-General received Brigadier A. B. Williams and ■Brigadier L. Potter. This afternoon his Excellency received Messrs J. Turner. S. O. Radcliffe, W. Young. G. S. Browne, G. A. Ervine, and G. E. Tuker, the British National Farmers’ Union delegation. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) left by air yesterday to visit New Zealand’s island territories. He was accompanied by Mr A. G. Osborne (Parliamentary Under-Secre-tary), Mr G. Laking (of the Prime Minister’s Department), Mr R. Fraser (Acting-Director of the Internal Marketing Division), and Miss K. Jordan (private secretary). Mr Fraser anticipates eating his Christmas dinner in Samoa—(P. A.) Mr P. H. Stevenson, formerly district superintendent of railways, refreshment branch, in the South Island, who retired from the department last Saturday after 40 years service, has been succeeded by Mr E. H. L. Braggins. who took up his new duties on Monday. The Sumner Borough Council on Monday evening appointed the Mayor (Mr C. G. Burgess) its delegate to the regional conference of the. Organisation for National Development. Messrs E. R. Caygill, O. Baker, E. H. S. Hamilton, J. S. Barnett, and F. M. Robson were appointed the members of the finance committee at the meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening. Messrs J. Walter, J.‘B. Johns. J. E. Jones. F. Robinson, W. P. Glue, and D. Stock were appointed members of the works committee. Mr H. G. Livingstone (chairman) is on each committee ex officio.
