TRANSFER OF PARK LAND
HOSPITAL BOARD TO SEEK REFERENDUM After a long discussion on the Lands Committee's decision not to grant a transfer of strips of .park land to’ the South Canterbury Hospital Board; for hospital building extensions, members of the board decided at 1 a ;of the board yesterday to arrange a meeting with the Timaru Bordugh ‘Council at Timaru Park ,to discuss the board’s difficulties, as a preliminary to making a request to the Borough Council to conduct a referendum for the purpose of enabling the people of Timaru_ to decide whether or ; not .strips of the park land should be transferred. The board also decided to ask all local contributing' bodies to co-operate, with- u •in endeavouring to arrange a 1 referendum. ■ • ■ ‘ V
