PHYSICAL EDUCATION

DISPLAY AT LIN WOOD NORTH SCHOOL A demonstration based on the new physical education syllabus was given yesterday by pupils of the, Linwood North School under the. direction of Miss J. Ardagh, an area organiser of physical education in Canterbury. A class of 88 children demonstrated games and agility exercises. Ireedom, of movement was an essential part of the lesson: the children were often free to move about as they chose, and also to .choose their individual introductory exercises. - ■. Pupils also demonstrated work in groups under group leaders, each group being employed in a different activity. There was much vigorous movement during the lesson, but periods of complete relaxation were also given. . The agility and evident enjoyment of the pupils were a proof of the value of the methods used.
