♦ REPAIRS TO KAIMIRO (P A) AUCKLAND, December 9. After losing her propeller off North Cape on Wednesday night, the Union Steam Ship Company’s steamer ».aimiro reached Auckland in tow on Thursday night, and was berthed with the assistance of two tugs. The Kaimiro, which is a smgle-screw steamer of 2562 tons, was left helpless when the mishap occurred until aygsof the Royal New Zealand Navy went out and put a line aboard. The damaged ship left Auckland on Tuesday night to load coal at WestP °Describing the incident. Captain Waters, master of the vessel, said that the Kaimiro Iqst her propeller about 6 p.m. The vessel vibrated violently before the engines were shut down, and then lay helpless. Fortunately there was only a moderate sea, and with the wind off shore the vessel began to drift further off the coast. On Thursday afternoon a vessel toojx the Kaimiro in tow in good weather, and brought her safely back to Auckland. ... , ■> Repairs to the Kaimiro will be carried out ac the wharf. The stern will by raised clear of the water by loading the head. Coal for this operation has been placed in position.
