KINGSFORD SMITH’S PLANE

SOUTHERN CROSS TO FLY AGAIN (Rec. 10.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 29. The late Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s famous monoplane Southern Cross, now 20 years old will fly again in the film version of the great Australian airman’s life story. The aeroplane, which flew the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea, is being reconditioned by the Royal Australian Force. Extensive repairs will be necessary to make it'airworthy. The Southern Cross has not been in the air since Sir Charles Kingsford Smith handed it over to the Commonwealth Government in 1935. The production of the film is expected to begin early in December.
