♦ Sailing Boats Capsize Three sailing boats, competing in a sweepstake race arranged by . members of the Lyttelton Yacht and Motor-boat Club on Saturday afternoon, capsized in a gusty nor’-wester and the race was abandoned. They were Valkyrie (L. Bachop), Minx (D. Sinclair), and Kokaha (E. Geayley). A naval launch, the yacht Cherub, and the trawler, Konlnl, picked up the three boats and their crews. The other two competitors, Aloma (B. Hollis), and Mascot (F. Sinclair), retired; combined class race was held on Saturday in a variable north-west wind, 14 yachts competing. Results:—Nada (10 min), H. England. 1; Valada (lOmin), A. Kroning, 2; Koala (lOmin), A. Laban 3; Seamew (14mln), D. Prebble 4. Commando, Wanaka, and Tohe tapsized. Diamond Harbour Golf Club There was a good attendance of members and visiting golfers at the closing day ,of the Diamond Harbour Golf Club yesterday. Trophies won during the season were presented by the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester). Results of competitions were:— Driving. Miss O. Norton and C. W. Carnaody; approaching, Miss A. McAuliffe and J. Voyce; putting. Miss I. Cleary and G. Cooper. A foursome over 12 holes was won by O. Guy and Miss H. Austad.
