CHARGES UNDER HONEY REGULATIONS

♦ PROSECUTIONS AT LEESTON Several prosecutions under the Honey Emergency Regulations, which place upon beekeepers an obligation to send in returns of honey to the Internal Marketing Division, were heard at the monthly sitting of -the Magistrate’s Court at Leeston before Mr A. A. McLachlan. S.M. The first case was one against A. R. Gossett, who was represented by Mr A. S. Nicholls. The information was dismissed. A similar charge against Barrett and Bray, for whom Mr Bray appeared, was argued at considerable length. A conviction was entered, the partners being fined £ 1 each and ordered to share the costs. On a charge of failing to supply honey in accordance with the regulations, T. F. Penrose, who conducted his own case, pleaded not Guilty. He was fined 30s and ordered to pay costs. Mr Alan Brown represented the Internal Marketing Division in each case.
