R.A.F. Air-Sea Rescue Service.— More than 100 lives were saved by the Royal Air Force air-sea rescue service in one day alone during the air-borne invasion of Holland, according to a statement from the headquarters of the Air Defence of Great Britain, where rescue operations on the largest scale ever known were planned. Launches picked up the great majority of the men “ditched” each day, and on the peak day more than 100 were saved, said the Royal Air Force staff officer who planned the rescue patrols. —London, September 21.
