British Woollen Clothing.— The British Government has announced a scheme to subsidise the price of woollen clothing in the home market rather than allow increased prices to the public, Clothing manufacturers had sought permission to charge increased maximum prices for clothing following increased production costs,,but the Board of Trade has decreed that no increase is permissible, and it has promised that utility wool cloth prices will be reduced enough to offset the increased making up costs.—London, September 20.
