* BOTANIC GARDENS, Rollcston avenue, near University.—Thousands nf daffodils are in bloom in the woodland by the banks of the Avon, near the bandstand. Sunday, October 1, is Daffodil Day in these gardens. In the Tcwnend House, primula obconlca, hippea strums, cyclamen, schlzanthus, kalanchoe, azaleas, and a display of orchids. Special features include magnolias, ornamental cherries, apples, and many other spring flowering shrubs now in bloom. A fine bed of forsythia intermedia near the tea kiosk is in full flow'er.
