VICTORY LOAN ADVERTISING
Sir, —Regarding Victory Loan advertising. referred to in your sub-leader and by other correspondents, the methods employed certainly do not appear to be the best. Displayed on the Chief Post Office we have the large sign, ‘‘Put your money into National Savings and see it grow.” Why place so much stress on that? There are surely other instincts in human nature which could be successfully appealed! to besides those of narrow selfishness. In any case, the money would grow pretty much the same if placed in the Post Office or any other bank. More emphasis on the real purpose, intelligently and plainly stated, and especially a clear explanation of what is likely to happen if the money is not voluntarily subscribed, would, in my opinion, produce a very much better response.—Yours, etc., GEORGE INGRAM.
