Yesterday In the House.—The House of Representatives had a short sitting yesterday, adjourning at 9.45 p.m. after the passing of the remaining two clauses of the Estimates, of which the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) had charge,, the Organisation for National Development and the National Service Department. The Prime Minister then moved to report progress instead of beginning consideration of votes for departments administered by the Minister of Finance (the Hoh. W. Nash).—(F.O.P.R.) Federal Referendum Voting.—The Australian Federal Government’s proposals for increased constitutional powers were defeated at the August referendum by 342,018 votes.—Canberra, September 21.
