. The Mayor (Mr E. 11. Andrews), the (Miss E. C. Couzins), the DepUty-Mayor (Cr. M. E. Lyons), and the Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast) were last evening guests of honour at a special reception given by the Christchurch (Ngati-Otautahi) Maori Association in rectjgnition of the interest taken by the civic authorities in Maori affairs, in. the city during the last two years. Mr Andrews, in acknowledging the welcome given the guests, said it would be a disaster if the Maori language was lost as, a spoken language; it was both euphonious and expressive.
