The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as followsSituation: an anti-cyclone is moving across the north Tasman Sea, and a trough is advancing on to the south Tasman Sea from the west. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate north-easterly winds on the coast, becoming northwest inland. Weather cloudy and mild. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate and variable winds, turning to north-west. Weather fair to. cloudy at first, but cloud increasing and rain developing in the south towards the end of the period, later becoming more general. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine yesterday with sunshine and passing cloud. There was a light north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 53.6 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and a Ught north-east breeze was blowing. The barometer was steady at 30.06 Inches (1018.0 millibars).
