QUARRIES BILL
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. The Quarries Bill was introduced and read a first time in the House of Representatives this evening. The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) said the Quarries Bill was a consolidation of the old Stone Quarries Act. and its amendments. There were only three new provisions, dealing with the control of dust in quarries, the height of quarry faces, and the handling of explosives. The bill was referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee.
