Nearly 2000 young people marched in rain through the streets of Wellington this afternoon in probably the greatest Christian youth rally ever held in the city. The Town Hall was filled for the service which followed the parade. The event was arranged by the Wellington Christian Youth Council in erajunction with the Wellington Christian Order Week Committee. Represented in the parade were Bible classes of the Anglican, Baptist, Congregational, and Presbyterian Churches, the youth departments of the Methodist Church, the Churches of Christ, and the Salvation Army, the Young Men’s Christian Association, the Young Women’s Christian Association, the Student Christian Movement, the Nurses’ Christian Union, the Girls’ Life Brigade,- the Boys’ Brigade, the Boy Scouts’ Association, the Boys’ Institute, and the Crusader Movement. The chairman for the service was the Rev. W. E. Falkingham, president of the Wellington Christian Youth Council. The rally, he said, was a significant feature of the Christian Order Week in which all the Protestant churches of the city were united, with the goodwill of the Roman Catholic Church. It was held so that young Christian men and women could dedicate themselves to the great task of spreading the message of the week.
