SYDNEY THEATRICAL MANAGER’S QUEST Mr Harold Bowden, Sydney, general manager of J. C. Theatres, Ltd., who is at present in Christchurch, is visiting the Dominion at the request of the New Zealand directors of J. C. Williamsons Theatres, who were anxious tnat talented people in this country should have an opportunity of being heard, so that the most promising ones might be considered for inclusion in tne company’s various productions. In the past the Williamson have generally included clever New Zealand-born artists, some of. whom have gone on to success overseas. The present company in Christchurch includes Miss Bettina Welch, a H an ?“- ton girl, who, in addition to playing important parts in all the productions, is the star of CJaudia, Lloyd Lamble, the present fading man. when he was in New ZeahmH eight years ago in “Night Must FbII, had as his lead another Hamilton girl in Elaine Hamill. who is, now m England. Lance Fairfax also another New Zealander, after playine in The Desert Song” and other Williamson productions, went on to leading roles Mr Bowden is hopeful that he will take back to Australia with him a dossier containing the names of many talented people who will be considered by his company once transport and manpower difficulties are overcome.
