HOUSE DAMAGED BY FIRE
BLAZE AT KAIKOURA
A four-roomed house situated®® the Esplanade, Kaikoura, and belong ing to Miss Emily Rutherford, of Men dip Hills, Parnassus, was gutted by last evening. . . . 10 45 The alarm was given about iv.w p.m. by a passer-by, who noticed smo rising from the roof of the house. T Kaikoura Volunteer Fire Bnga » under Superintendent S. T. Allan, so had the fire under control. The fire apparently started in a roorn at the rear of the house. At the tin*® there was no one occupying the house, though someone had been in residence earlier in the week. Damage to the house was .connnea to the interior. All the exterior waus remain standing.
