The engagement is announced of Margaret, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J Rennie, 42 Elizabeth street, Timaru, and Captain Allan Edward Monaghan, 2nd N.Z.E.F.. son of Archdeacon and Mrs H. W. Monaghan, Timaru. The engagement is announced of Hazel Mary, elder daughter of Mrs Gardner and the late Mr Edward Gardner, “Eastcott.” Scargill, to Charles Henry, second son of Mrs Wood and the late Mr Cockerell, Wamta, West Coast. ■ “LABOURLESS” NEW HOUSES All unnecessary household labour has, it is claimed, been eliminated from two prefabricated houses creeled by private enterprise, which the Minister of Health; Mr Willink, inspected when he visited Coventry, says the “Sunday Times,” London. The houses are all • electric, and "shadowless” lighting everywhere has been provided. Plug points are interchangeable, and there are no trailing flexes. The kitchen equipment, in addition to cooker, water-heater, and refrigerator, includes complete home laundry facilities.
