PRODUCERS’ UNION
Sir,—lt is generally accepted by all primary producers that a non-political union of all associations covering producers’ activities is not only desirable but vitally necessary. Obviously the first requisite is for the producers to agree among themselves, but unfortunately the “Big Two," the Farmers Union and the Sheepowners Federation, still appear to be at loggerheads, and until these two agree, the poss - bility of one big union covering all primary producers is rem ® te ; ** hoped, in the near future, to hold a special meeting of the Canterbury Sheepowners’ Union to discuss the question of amalgamation. Can you, or anv of your correspondents, tell me why the executive of the Sheepowners Federation appears to be a S the plan, and in what possible way sheep owners and farmers interests conflict. -Yours, etc., A F ILDING> Hundalee, June 9^1944.
