A young woman, aged U years, w'bose name was ordered not to be published, was admitted to probation for three years for stealing a diamond ring valued at £45, Cn the application of Senior-De-tective H. Nuttall accused was ordered to make restitution of the sum of £6. TRAFFIC BREACHES
"This man is a definite menace on the road," said Traffic Inspector H. James when Ronald James Brown was proceeded against for driving a motor-cai at a dangerous speed. A City Council inspector had tested his speed, at 45 miles an hour, and when defendant was doing this speed he had one arm round a child in his ear. He had had a number of previous convictions recorded against him. Brown was fined £5 and his licence was endorsed.
For driving without lights at night, and lor not having a warrant of fitness, Neville John Fowcelt was ordered lo pay costs on each charge, Crooks was fined 10s for riding an unlighled cycle at night; William G. Ruins was fined £5 for not having a heavy traffic licence. Eric Claude' Vaughan was fined 10s for parking on a bus stop, Malcolm Leslie Lloyd was fined 10s for parking on a prohibited area, Hula Alfred Lee was ordered lo pay costs for not having num-ber-plates illuminated, and for cycling on the footpath William Smith was ordered lo pay costs,
