£151,226 REQUIRED BY CANTERBURY PATRIOTIC FUND. FOR THE FOURTH PERIOD ENDED MAY 30th. 1944. this year's contributions to the Canterbury Patriotic Fund totalled £60.000 (or about £IUW ® ™£, th L™* of an annual quota of £211,226 (over £17,600 a month). This leaves £151,226 to be raised in Canterbury by the end of the year, in order that regular parcels, comforts, and other amenities can be sent to our men and women overseas. Last week a booklet had been delivered to homes in this district telling V* story in pictures of how the pitrlotic funds are used by the Board's various expending agencies, such as the Red Cross, Y.M.C.A., Church Army, and so on. With each booklet gees an addressed envelope, which you are asked to use, sending in your donation to this fund which we must not allow to "slide." . . . It is hoped that personal gifts. which form a relatively small part of the total, will increase, so that Canterbury can “keep its end up.” and provide parcels, etc., for its overseas services. Every little helps." , . . Recent contributions are given below.— , £ s. d.
