HEALTH OF CHILDREN

Sir,—l am writing, hoping to draw the attention of the Health Department and the Plunket Society to what I think is detrimental to the health of the little children of to-day; and that is insufficient warmth to their little bodies. Because of the restrictions of big prams on trams, mothers have had to come back to the pushchair, and it is here the trouble lies. The children are not wrapped up warmly with a rug or a warm cushion to sit on. Going down the street the other day I saw five pushchairs wittflittle children in

them and not one of them had any warm covering to shield them from a cold easterly wind. It is no wonder our hospitals are full when such carelessness regarding the health of the children is shown.—Yours, etc., PUSHCHAIR. May 29, 1944.
