COMPANY NEWS THE PERPETUAL TRUSTEES The sixtieth annual report of the Perpetual Trustees Estate and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd., states that the net profit for the year, after providing for depreciation, amounted to £6312 17s 3d; to which had to be added last year’s carry forward of £4777 17s; making a total of £11,090 14s 3d; out of which had been paid: land, and income tax, £2326 16s 6d; national and social security charges, £640 19s 3d; interim dividend of 9d a share for six months ended September 30, 1943, £937 10s; subsidy to the staff benefit fund and donations to patriotic funds, £698 15s sd; a total of £4604 Is 2d, leaving available for distribution, £6488 13s Id. The directors recommended that the amount be dealt with as follows: —to payment of a dividend of 9d a share for six months ended March 31, 1944, £937 10s; to staff benefit fund contribution. £500; to carry forward to next year (subject to Income tajc and national and social security charges for year just ended), £5049 3s Id. Dominion Fertiliser Company.—The balance brought forward from the profit and loss appropriation account of the Dominion Fertiliser Company, Ltd., last year was £3291, and the net profit for the year ended on March 31 was £7440. The directors recommend the payment of a dividend of 3 per cent., which will absorb £7217, and leave £3515 to be carried forward to next year’s accounts.—(P.A.) Woolworths Properties.—Woolworths Properties, Ltd., has declared a dividend for the half-year ending June 30, at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum on preferred and ordinary shares,, based on shareholdings as at June 30, payable on July 15.—( P.A.) MINING BLACKWATER MINES The review of development work carried out at Blackwater mines for the four weeks ending May 19 was as follows:—No. 11 level drive north advanced 31 feet on reef averaging 13.92dwts, over a width of 26in. No. 15 level drive south advanced 36 feet, of which 18 feet were on reef averaging 3.Bsdwt over a width of 27in. No. 15 level intermediate drive from rise 1875 N. was advanced 4(fcfeet on reef averaging 14.92dwt over a width of 27in. Slab Hut.—The return for the week ended May 27, was 250z from 18,000 yards in 89 hours. Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.), Ltd.— For the week ended May 27, the company’s dredges recovered 1404 ounces from 62,375 yards in 301 dredging hours. Clutha River.—The Clutha River dredge return is 84 ounces for 93 hours.—(P.A.)
