EYE WITNESS STORIES WANTED

ARMY EDUCATION PLAN Stories of battle on land and sea, and in the air, by the men who fought in them are being sought by the Army Education and Welfare Service and the National Broadcasting Service, which have organised two eye-witness story competitions for New Zealand servicemen and servicewomen in the Dominion and overseas, and demobilised service personnel who have served anywhere overseas. Entries in the competitions are expected to provide the type of material needed by historians to paint a living, accurate picture of what the New Zealanders actually achieved in battle. The first competition will close on July 1 and the second on October 1. In each competition the prizes are £ls for first and £lO for second. Entries will be received from New Zealand and the Pacific, the Middle East, Britain, and Canada. The Army Education and Welfare Service reserves the right to publish entries in its magazine “Korero,” or in any war souvenir which is published, and the National Broadcasting Service reserves the right to use winning entries for two years.
